Swensen's now in Manila... Finally! :)

Swensen's has landed the shores of Manila. We went to Mall of Asia just to check it out. Yes! ♥ I've been really looking forward to this day. Gone are the days that you have be in Singapore just to have a bite of their heavenly desserts :) It was 3 years in the making, and finally the owners of The Old Spaghetti House were able to bring the franchise here in the Philippines.

Menu: Scoop and Toppings

What to choose, what to choose? The menu has these huge photos of mouthwatering desserts which were really photogenic that it took me quite a while what to order.

Menu: Cable Parfait, Beautiful Sundae, and Chocolate Fantasy

I opt from the chocolate fantasy selection. Since I love malteesers, I ordered frosted choc fantasy. It has 2 scoops of chocolate ice cream, chocolate chips, chocolate syrup, malteesers, and a cherry on top dipped in chocolate. And wow, it was really yummy. The ice cream was creamy, and the chocolate syrup is just right. I loved the chocolate chips too. It gives texture and crunch along with the malteesers. It was so good that every spoonful, I would always say, "ang sarap" (pause), "ang sarap"! LOL

Frosted Choc Malt Fantasy

Bf ordered Nutty Crispy Tower. It was also good. But the mine was better. Maybe because I love chocolates ♥ When I come back, I would definitely pick another from the Chocolate Fantasy selection again :)

Nutty Crispy Tower

They'll be opening a branch in Eastwood soon. Great, because MOA is too far. Hehe. Oh! btw, too bad they only got the franchise of the desserts. I'm hoping in the next branches that will open they'll serve burger and steaks as well just like in SG's. :)

That homey feel and seriously good desserts

Mom and Tina's Bakery Cafe has a comfy feel to it. It was homey in an old old American country style way. I loved the furniture, the interiors in colors of blue and white.  We checked out their new branch in a new building with other restaurants like Bon Chon, Brothers Burger, Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and even a Fully Booked store along Katipunan just to try out the desserts. I'm glad we did :)

Baked Oreo Cheesecake and Sans Rival

The Baked Oreo Cheesecake was super yummy. Whipped cream, cheesecake, and Oreo layers. I especially loved the cheesecake part :)
Baked Oreo Cheesecake

Sans Rival was also good. Just bit too sweet for my liking.

One word to describe the Dark Tobelore Walnut Torte: Heavenly! I'd say you can never go wrong on a dessert with layers of nuts and graham. Graham, chewy walnut torte, dark toblerone chunks, and dark choco creme to top it all. Super yum :)

Dark Toblerone Walnut Torte

Just look at those layers ♥ Hmm

Ristra's!

An overwhelmingly huge serving of delicious and fresh ingredients wrapped in a tortilla that's more than a foot in diameter. Sometimes, I can't even finish half of it! Main ingredients are rice (choice of cilantro and chorizo brown rice) and meat (chicken, steak, vegetarian, barbacoa, and carnitas). Also filled with corn, salsa, avocado, etc. Best term to describe: siksik. A must try!! And for sure like me, you will almost always crave for this. :D

Just look at the all the meat stuffed in it!

Uncle Moe's :))

They serve the rice with butter. :) Better than Mister Kebab, I must say. So kebab fans out there should try dining here. I highly recommend the Kofta balls. Yum!

S.R Thai's Seafood Fried Rice

I was literally dancing when I've tasted this. Super yummy! I'll definitely order this again when I come back! :)

Aysee's has the Crispiest Sisig

Crispiest sisig!!!! Kulang nalang gravy. Hmm. There's a crunch in every spoonful. It's like eating a finely chopped sizzling chicharon :)

S&R Pizza is the best new york style pizza in the metro

I NEVER LIKED pepperoni pizza.. but this, was an exception. I never did because of the salty taste of the pepperoni... except for S&R's version. Their crunchy pepperoni adds more flavor to the oh so cheesy huge slice. This, by far was the best pizza I've tasted here in the metro. REAL new york style pizza that is.

Bon Chon is the best!

I'M NOT THAT INTO spicy food but Bon Chon's buffalo wings is an exception. Most that I've tried loses the crispiness of the skin, but this one is different. It's covered with the right amount of chili sauce and yet the skin is still crisp and the meat is juicy that you want to eat with with your hands to eat everything up to the bones. You would definitely want to order extra rice.

update 3 Nov. 2011

Great News! Finally. My favorite spicy chicken now serves my favorite chicken part.. Thigh. Juicier, hot, and still delish. :)

 Chocolate Tartufo, Caramia

IF YOU'RE A FAN of Conti's Mango Bravo and a real big fan of anything chocolate (cake, ice cream or just plain chocolate) then you should try Caramia's Chocolate Tartufo. Like Mango Bravo it has this layer by layer goodness. The outer layer chocolate that I would love to nibble by itself imagine eating dark chocolate ganache on top of your chocolate cake hmm yum, choco gelato inside, then another layer of chocolate with nuts which is my favorite part as it gives a twist to this chocolate madness. Take note it's not too sweet despite of chocolate overload so a slice is definitely not enough.

Top froyo list

I'VE BEEN DREAMING of this cup to get out of my usual plain froyo + chopped almonds + crushed graham + mangoes combination, adding blueberries and strawberries in my FRUITY FROYO cup this time. And the verdict... drum roll please, heavenly :) Fruity Froyo is 2nd on my top frozen yoghurt list. It not only tastes good I also like the idea of filling your own cup with various kinds of nuts, fruits, candies, and syrup to choose from.

Here's my top froyo list:
1. The White Hat --PERFECT. The yoghurt is just right .. it's creamy and not too sour, the fruits are fresh.. I keep coming back and everytime it's just perfect.
2. Fruity Froyo
3. Red Mango --my FIRST cup where my love for froyo started..

Worst I've tasted:
1. California Berry --TOO sour as in too SOUR, ugh
2. Golden Spoon --gross. Although they gave me a really full cup that the crushed graham fell when I removed my spoon.. it tasted really bad and the fruit tasted as if it was stucked in the fridge for weeks.

My favorite Chocolate Kiss cakes

Three of my favorite cake flavors at Chocolate Kiss are Dayap Chiffon Cake, Kahlua Butter Cake, and Devil's Food Cake.

We also tried McDonalds and KFC the Singapore way.
McDonald's Breakfast Meal: sausage mcgriddles with wgg, hash browns, and hot chocolate

McGriddles is not available in the Philippines that's why we made sure that we get to taste it. It tastes more like a thick pancake instead of a bread. Hmm, I'd say I still prefer the good old english muffin, the bread used in Phils. McDo breakfast sandwich.

Sausage McGriddles with Egg

KFC chicken still tastes the same except they don't serve it with rice which we surely missed. And most disappointing of all... they don't serve gravy for the chicken!! Again, comparing here in the Philippines we have unlimited gravy in KFC. Aww, well I guess better not try fast food in other countries that are already available here so I won't keep on comparing. Next time :)
KFC Original Chicken & mashed potato and Ben & Jerry's, Singapore Zoo

Ben & Jerry's can only be purchased in groceries here in the Philippines in pint size. So I was ecstatic when I saw their scoop shop where you can purchase a small cup. I ordered my favorite flavor, New York Fudge Chunk. It's Chocolate Ice Cream with White & Dark Fudge Chunks, Pecans, Walnuts & Fudge Covered Almond. Super thick & creamy and one of my favorite frozen desserts :) Happiness! <3
